Kathy Macdonald is one among the speakers of the Rocheston Reinvent Cybersecurity for Women Conference, which will be held on 25th – 27th September, 2020. The topic covered will be Identity Theft, Revenge Porn and Blackmailing on the Internet.
Kathy is a retired police officer with the Calgary Police Service, with almost three decades of investigative and crime prevention experience. She regularly delivers keynote presentations at conferences on the topics of online fraud, identity theft, Internet safety and social engineering. Kathy instructs courses online through the University of Calgary, Faculty of Continuing Education, on subjects including Crime in the Workplace, Cybercrime Prevention and Personnel Security. Kathy’s new book, Cybercrime: Awareness, Prevention, and Response, is the first comprehensive Canadian resource talking about how cybercrime affects individuals, businesses, governments, institutions, and organizations.
Kathy is one of the leading investigators for Toddington International, a global leader in the provision of online research, internet investigation, and Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) training. In this capacity she has investigated cases of revenge porn, hate crime, and conducts social media monitoring.
Kathy holds a Master of Science, in Security and Risk Management, and is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP). In 2009, the Governor General of Canada, invested Kathy with the Member of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces, M.O.M., in recognition to her commitment to cybercrime prevention. Kathy is on the Senate at the University of Calgary, and she was recently awarded one of the Top 20 Women in Cyber Security in Canada for 2020.
